◊ Company history ◊

… serving our customers for more than 90 years!

Fritz Reu (*1901), the founder of our company still bearing his name, having studied at Kunstakademie München to hone his skills as an artist, decided to start his own business. Inspired by his dream to offer customised products, he sets up a business in Pforzheim, located between Stuttgart and Karlsruhe, employing two assistants, to pursue his vision of creating custom coins, medals and souvenirs.

The following years are marked by continuous growth, the number of employees increasing to 15 by 1939. Drafted into war, Fritz Reu and his employees are forced to leave the company – with his wife taking over the business on a temporary basis, keeping up production during the war years with the help of dedicated work-from-home employees.

Just before Pforzheim is destroyed in one of the most devastating areal bombardments of WW II, flattening the Reu family home with bombs as well, the family relocates to Heubach, where they are re-united 90 kilometres east of Pforzheim. In the following year Fritz Reu and two of his employees start rebuilding the company in Heubach from scratch.

In 1952 the first factory is set up in Gmünder Straße in Heubach, where the production of our coins and medals is based to this day. However, numerous extensions and the addition of new buildings have since led to the expansion of our business premises, allowing for the integration of state-of the art production facilities / equipment.

The year 1972 marks a year of record employment – with the company employing 160 permanent members of staff and 30 work-from-home employees, specialised on applying finishing touches to the products. Yet, in the following years, the introduction of more efficient production methods and automation as well as outsourcing lead to a significant drop in staff numbers.

Today the company employs 60 production and administrative staff members. After years of managing the company’s fortunes, Heinz Fritz Reu, the son of Fritz Reu, decides to hand over the management of the company to former Head of Operations Berthold Krieg, appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2015 and still heading up the company today.
